It’s amazing how many communities and clubs are out there, full of passionate followers of vw camper vans. My friends often ask, where are the best places to look for vw camper van treasure. You know, collecting is relatively simple now. You have at your fingertips that vast infinite resource, the Internet and don’t forget the useful contacts and original information to be found in the numerous books and magazines on the market.
To be a successful collector, you have to have a passion for vw camper vans and keep your eyes open where ever you go. Things just seem to jump out at you when you least expect it. I have found horn pushes, original radio blanking plates, vw logo steering wheels in flea markets and jumble sales.

As I mentioned before you could squash a lot more people into a far more luxurious space, (we had one with a completely carpeted interior). Not only could you transport more dudes, you could fit in the camping gear, stacks of food, plenty of T-shirts and shorts, the tool kit and if you wanted, the kitchen sink. Nothing had been seen like it and it wasn’t long before the personally customised vw camper vans appeared on the scene. Many were hand painted, christened and in the place of the VW logo, peace symbols were painted or other works of art such as scantily clad well endowed ladies.
They have now become highly sought after collector’s items and they make fantastic renovation projects.
